Abstract
- Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine have conducted a study on hearing loss using cochlear implant electrodes to map the tonotopy of the human cochlea. The study aimed to assess the impact of sound intensity and the creation of an artificial "third window" on the tonotopic map. The findings showed a deviation from the traditional frequency-position map, particularly at high-intensity stimulations. The study suggests that understanding the influence of stimulus intensity on cochlear responses could improve cochlear implant programming and auditory rehabilitation. [Extracted from the article]
