Abstract

This article discusses the potential impact of sanctions on Iranian airlines, specifically Iran Air and Mahan Air. The United States and its European allies are considering further sanctions, including a potential ban on European flights by Iran Air. However, the article argues that if only Iran Air is sanctioned, Mahan Air, which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), may simply take over its illicit activities in Europe. The article suggests that in order to effectively curtail Mahan Air's activities, the European Union and its allies should also sanction Mahan Air and its affiliates. The document provides a list of companies and their respective statuses in relation to sanctions, as well as information on Iran Air's fleet and flights to Europe. The information in this document is sourced from press releases from the U.S. Treasury Department and Office of Foreign Assets Control. [Extracted from the article]
