Abstract

The practice of using relay protection and automation devices shows that, despite the measures taken to prevent ferroresonance overvoltages, this phenomenon continues to be observed in 6 – 35 kV distribution networks. It is concluded that the recognition of ferroresonance is an important issue and that the regulatory requirements for relay protection and automation should be modified. The relevant literature is reviewed, and ferroresonance modes are classified. Practical issues of detecting ferroresonances are considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
