A research report from the Russian Academy of Sciences discusses the solubilization of the antimalarial drug artemisinin in water using micellar systems based on cationic surfactants. The study found that the surfactant aggregates had a significant influence on the solubility of artemisinin, increasing its concentration up to 36 times in the presence of a relatively low surfactant content. The research also determined the period of chemical stability of artemisinin in cationic surfactant solutions.
