Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Medical University of Vienna in Austria explored the use of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) therapy as a potential treatment for pediatric cannula infections in Berlin Heart EXCOR patients. The study found that CAP therapy was safe and effective in treating one pediatric patient with cannula exit-site wound healing disorders, resulting in visible improvements in wound staging, reduction in bacterial load, and inflammatory parameters. However, further research is needed to investigate this therapy in more detail. The study was published in the journal Artificial Organs and has undergone peer-review. [Extracted from the article]
