Abstract

A study conducted at the University of California Harbor-UCLA Medical Center examined the impact of nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis, or fatty liver disease, on the warranty period of a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score of 0. The study found that individuals with nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis had a shorter warranty period for a CAC score of 0 compared to those without the condition. This association remained consistent across different demographics and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk factors. The findings suggest that individuals with nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis and a CAC score of 0 may require more frequent rescans. [Extracted from the article]
