This essay offers a discussion of Batia Baum's translation of Katzenelson's elegy into French. Opening with a presentation of the Maison de la culture yiddish -- Bibliothèque Medem and Baum's achievements as a translator from Yiddish, the article highlights the significance of the poem written in France during the German occupation and published in Paris shortly after WW2.
