Abstract

This article is a summary of the Special Section on "Materials for Energy Conversion Systems" from the European Materials Research Society Spring Meeting 2023. The symposium focused on the development of state-of-the-art energy conversion systems and the understanding of multifaceted phenomena in materials. The symposium received a high number of submissions, resulting in 10 oral sessions and 3 poster sessions covering various materials and technologies. The contributions to this Special Section highlight the importance of efficient energy storage and conversion, with a focus on solar energy, thin-film photovoltaics, metal halide perovskites, and lead-free perovskites. The papers in this section demonstrate the combination of novel materials and experimental approaches with simulations to accelerate the development of cutting-edge applications.
