Abstract
- The Ball & Socket Manufacturing Company, located in Cheshire, Connecticut, was a prominent producer of buttons and fasteners for textiles for nearly 150 years. It became the largest factory in the town and one of the world's largest manufacturers of metal buttons. The article delves into the experiences of the workers, including child labor, and highlights the factory's closure in 1994. Today, the site has been transformed into a cultural hub known as Ball & Socket Arts, featuring art galleries, live music venues, and retail shops. This information may be valuable to library patrons interested in researching manufacturing history or local industries. [Extracted from the article]
