Abstract

Gastric cancer (GC) remains a global healthcare challenge because of its high incidence and poor prognosis. The efficacy of current chemotherapy regimens for advanced GC is limited. T cells, which have been implicated in the progression of GC, have a significant impact in the tumor microenvironment. With a more detailed understanding of the mechanisms underlying the cancer immunoediting process, immunotherapy may become a promising treatment option for patients with GC. Several clinical trials are currently investigating different mechanisms targeting the tumor immune response. The present review summarized T cell-involved immune responses and various immunotherapy strategies for GC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
