Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brazil explored the potential of a dual approach to treating depression using intermittent hypoxia (IH) and fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). The study found that the combination of IH and fluoxetine had a synergistic effect in reducing depressive-like behaviors and inflammatory responses in female mice. These findings suggest a promising therapeutic approach for depression and highlight the need for more effective treatments for mental disorders. The study was funded by the National Council of Technological And Scientific Development and the Rio Grande Do Sul State Foundation. [Extracted from the article]
