Abstract
- A preprint abstract from biorxiv.org discusses the design of novel pre-drug compounds that can covalently modify a specific protein called carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX). CAIX is highly overexpressed in hypoxic solid tumors and plays a role in cancer cell survival and proliferation. The designed compounds have high affinity for CAIX and can irreversibly inactivate the protein through covalent modification. The lead inhibitors reached a high affinity for CAIX and this strategy could potentially be used for other disease drug target proteins. However, it is important to note that this preprint has not been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
