Abstract
- Researchers from Pontifical Catholic University in Santiago, Chile, have conducted a study on the use of plerixafor in autologous stem cell transplantation. The study found that plerixafor, a drug that promotes the release of stem cells, was effective in achieving satisfactory stem cell harvests in patients with myeloma and lymphoma. The use of plerixafor also reduced the need for multiple apheresis procedures. The researchers concluded that the rational and standardized use of plerixafor can benefit South American patients requiring autologous transplantation. [Extracted from the article]
