Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Alexandria in Egypt explored the relationship between serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels and pain severity and functional disability in patients with disc-induced lumbosacral radiculopathy (LSR). The study included 40 LSR patients and 40 healthy subjects as a control group. The results showed that serum BDNF levels were significantly higher in LSR patients compared to healthy controls, and higher in patients with neuropathic pain compared to those with nonneuropathic pain. However, there was no significant correlation between BDNF levels and chronic pain severity or functional disability. This research provides valuable insights into the potential association between serum BDNF levels and pain in LSR patients. [Extracted from the article]
