Abstract

A study conducted at Cangzhou People's Hospital in China explored the correlation between serum levels of Klotho and uromodulin (UMOD) and IgA nephropathy complicated with hyperuricemia. The study included 97 hospitalized patients with IgA nephropathy, divided into two groups based on blood uric acid levels. Serum levels of Klotho and UMOD were compared among the groups, and their correlation with other factors such as blood uric acid and creatinine levels was examined. The study found that serum levels of Klotho and UMOD were down-regulated in patients with IgA nephropathy complicated by hyperuricemia, and a combined diagnosis of the two had an excellent effect. Monitoring serum levels of Klotho and UMOD could be useful for diagnosing IgA nephropathy complicated by hyperuricemia. [Extracted from the article]
