Abstract

The European Union is exploring ways to bypass Hungary's veto on funding for Ukraine, which has blocked over €6 billion in aid. One proposal being considered is allowing member states to make voluntary contributions to the European Peace Facility, which would enable funds to flow based on the consent of contributors rather than unanimous support. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been vocal in opposing EU assistance to Ukraine, and his ties with Russia have drawn criticism from EU leaders. The issue will be discussed further by EU ambassadors, but it remains uncertain how much support the plan will receive. [Extracted from the article]
