Abstract
- This article discusses Charles Lindbergh's last flight to Maui in 1974, which marked the 50th anniversary of his famous solo transatlantic flight. Lindbergh, who was battling lymphoma, expressed his desire to return to his rustic home in Maui to spend his final days and be buried there. Despite doctors' warnings, Lindbergh arranged for a flight back to Hawaii with his wife and two of their sons. He survived the journey and took ownership of his death, making arrangements for his burial and even signing a book contract for his unpublished autobiography. Lindbergh passed away on August 26, 1974, and was buried in a traditional Hawaiian grave on the grounds of Palapala Ho'omau Church. His posthumous autobiography, "Autobiography of Values," was published in 1977. [Extracted from the article]
