Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the Medical University of Vienna has found that nuclear magnetic resonance treatment (NMRT) induces the release of beta-nerve growth factor (NGF) from Schwann cells (SCs) and enhances the growth of neurites in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons in vitro. The study aimed to identify the factors involved in transferring the effects of NMRT to SCs and DRG neurons. The results showed that NMRT increased the secretion of NGF and other pro-regenerative signaling factors, and blocking antibody experiments confirmed NGF as the main factor responsible for the neurotrophic and neuritogenic effects of NMRT. The study concluded that the increased NGF levels in the conditioned media of NMRT-treated SCs primarily mediated the positive effects on DRG neurons. [Extracted from the article]
