Abstract

A study conducted at Fuwai Hospital in Beijing, China, examined the association between ideal cardiovascular health (CVH) and the progression of subclinical atherosclerosis (SA). The study followed 972 asymptomatic Chinese participants for 5.7 years and evaluated their CVH using the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score. The results showed that higher LE8 scores were associated with lower risks of carotid plaque, coronary artery calcification, and overall SA progression. The study concluded that maintaining optimal CVH in the long term was more beneficial in preventing SA progression. [Extracted from the article]
