Abstract
- During the years of independence, the vocabulary of the Azerbaijani language changed under the influence of the historical, political and social events of the time and acquired a new quality. For many years, the relations of the Azerbaijani language with European languages and the process of acquiring words from those languages were realized through the mediation of the Russian language. The independent stage of the development of the Azerbaijani language is characterized by the ability to establish non-contact interlingual communication with European languages, especially English. In the article, relations between Azerbaijan and English, their current situation, as well as the requirements of the globalized world were considered. The place of the words of English origin in the vocabulary of the Azerbaijani language and the fields of processing were considered. It was determined that the words of English origin selected from separate dictionaries are mostly related to technology, fields related to communication and the names of modern technical equipment. According to the statistical calculation conducted on the dictionaries published in different years, it was concluded that borrowings from the English language increased quantitatively. Compared to previous years, the number of areas where words of English origin are used has been increasing in the last 10 years. At the same time, such words are included in everyday life and people's daily activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
