Abstract
- Medulloblastoma (MB) is a rare cancer, although a more common pediatric brain tumor, affecting 350-500 children in the United States of America each year. MBs are classified as Grade IV neoplasms and divided into four subgroups, of which the Sonic Hedgehog-Activated (SHH-activated) group is responsible for most adult MBs. Thecurrent understanding of MB in adults and the genetic characteristics of all age groups lacks clarity. Thismeta-analysis aims to study, using the cBioPortal database, 170 genetic profiles of patients diagnosed with the SHH-activated subgroup of medulloblastoma and to revise how interactions of genes associated with MB contribute to the current understanding of the disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets. Thispaper uncovers the possible correlation between MB and diverse genetic alterations unrelated to MBs. The results showed insights into the neoplasm's formation and evolution, such as highlighting blood and blood vessel abnormalities, which can influence the tumor's metastasis potential. The e was also a high association between MB and histological, functional, and developmental abnormalities, including heart development problems, kidney problems, and other forms of cancer, revealing the genetic complexity of this tumor and suggesting possible clinical implications.
