Abstract
- The article discusses the history and current state of Midway Atoll, which was once a strategic location for the U.S. Navy but is now a National Wildlife Refuge. The atoll is home to millions of seabirds, including three species of albatrosses that make up 90% of the world's population. Despite the return of the birds, threats such as pollution, invasive species like mice and rats, and natural disasters like tsunamis continue to endanger the wildlife. Efforts are being made to protect the birds and their habitat for future generations. [Extracted from the article]
