Analysis of the causes of caking of ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst in styrene unit.

Abstract
- The ethylene dehydrogenation catalyst in a certain styrene unit was caked after long-term use. In order to analyze the caking cause of ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst, solubility experiment, baking experiment and X-ray fluorescence spectrum test were carried out. The experimental results showed that the white solid on the surface of the caking catalyst could be dissolved in the water. After the caking catalyst was roasted at 800 °C for 4 h, the white substance was existed. The small granular particles were not crushed easily and were hard. The X-ray fluorescence spectrometer test showed that the white solid was a potassium-containing substance on the catalyst surface. The block formation of the ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst in this unit is caused by the migration and aggregation of potassium during long-term use of the catalyst. The research provided some technical reference for reducing the caking of ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst in the production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
