Abstract

The <superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>4</superscript>He inelastic scattering was experimentally investigated in an exclusive measurement at the MAGNEX facility of INFN - LNS, aiming at characterizing the 0<superscript>+</superscript><subscript>2</subscript> resonant state of <superscript>4</superscript>He. Both the <superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>4</superscript>He→<superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>4</superscript>He<superscript>∗</superscript>→<superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>3</superscript>H+p and <superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>4</superscript>He→<superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>4</superscript>He<superscript>∗</superscript>→<superscript>4</superscript>He+<superscript>3</superscript>He+n configurations were measured together with an elastic scattering measurement in a wide angular range. In the present article, the experimental setup, the measurement and the data reduction are briefly described, pointing out the significance of an exclusive inelastic scattering measurement to suppress the background originating from other processes.
