Abstract

A recent study conducted at Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University in China focused on comparing the detection rates of epileptogenic foci in children with drug-refractory epilepsy using video electroencephalography (VEEG), MRI, and PET. The study found that lengthening VEEG time and increasing the number of times of VEEG can increase the detection rate of epileptiform discharges and clinical seizures. Additionally, PET/CT or PET/MRI and VEEG can provide localization information for children with negative MRI results. The study also noted a higher mental retardation rate in children with an onset age of 2 years and abnormal VEEG background. [Extracted from the article]
