Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Messina in Italy compared the analgesic efficacy of butorphanol and lidocaine, alone or in combination, in calves undergoing surgical repair of umbilical hernia. The study involved 60 calves of different breeds and found that both butorphanol alone and the combination of butorphanol and lidocaine provided safe and effective pain management, reducing postoperative discomfort and maintaining animal welfare. The research concluded that this combination did not cause any adverse effects and showed excellent intraoperative and postoperative scores.
