Abstract

A recent study conducted at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, focused on the crystallinity reconstruction of squid-pen chitosan into a mechanically robust and multifunctional bionanocomposite food packaging film. The research explored the effects of bioacids on film processing and the addition of glycerol and CNC to enhance properties such as tensile strength, swelling, oxygen barrier, UV light barrier, and antibacterial efficiency. The study concluded that the film processability of the chitosan bionanocomposite can be improved with the use of poly(vinyl alcohol) as a biodegradable processing aid.
