Abstract
- Researchers from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences conducted a study on insulin receptors in the subfornical organ (SFO) of mice, a brain region involved in cardiovascular and metabolic regulation. They found that SFO neurons, including excitatory and inhibitory types, were the primary site of insulin receptor expression, with some expression also detected in astrocytes. Additionally, SFO angiotensin type 1a receptor neurons were found to express insulin receptors, suggesting complex cellular networks in the SFO that may influence physiology. This research was supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. [Extracted from the article]
