Abstract

A recent report from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, discusses the diagnostic utility of direct immunofluorescence (DIF) testing for cutaneous vasculitis. The scoping review aimed to evaluate the peer-reviewed literature on the use of DIF in vasculitis, with findings suggesting a sensitivity of 75% for DIF. The research highlights the importance of DIF testing not only for diagnostic confirmation but also for disease subtype classification and prediction of systemic associations in vasculitis. Future studies are recommended to compare the sensitivity of DIF to histopathology in vasculitis diagnosis. [Extracted from the article]
