Abstract

Researchers from the Singapore National Eye Centre conducted a systematic review on the risk factors for Acute Acquired Comitant Esotropia (AACE) in children and young adults. The study found that AACE is a rare subtype of esotropia with unclear diagnostic and management guidelines. The research identified benign and non-benign risk factors for AACE, including intracranial pathologies, multiple sclerosis, and head trauma. Further research with larger sample sizes and control groups is needed to refine diagnostic criteria and management guidelines for AACE. [Extracted from the article]
