Abstract

A study conducted in Cairo, Egypt, examined the efficacy of endobronchial intratumoral injection of 5-Fluorouracil as a chemotherapeutic agent in palliative care for patients with inoperable nonsmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The research concluded that this treatment approach was not effective in improving outcomes for patients with advanced malignant endobronchial NSCLC. The study involved 30 patients and found no significant difference in tumor response between those who received systemic chemotherapy alone and those who received systemic chemotherapy along with local chemotherapy using 5-fluorouracil. The findings were published in The Egyptian Journal of Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis. [Extracted from the article]
