Abstract

A recent study conducted at Roskilde University in Denmark explored the psychological consequences of financial scarcity on social welfare recipients. The research found that while short-term changes in financial conditions did not significantly impact recipients' mindsets, subjective scarcity was associated with increased problem-solving focus but decreased psychological well-being. The study suggests that more research is needed to establish stronger causal evidence for the long-term effects of scarcity on welfare recipients.
