Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China introduced a novel 3D multimodal fusion imaging technique for microvascular decompression surgery in patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. The research focused on enhancing surgical guidance by utilizing computed tomography angiography and venography, diffusion tensor tractography, and 3D multimodal fusion imaging. The study found that this advanced imaging approach significantly improved accuracy in identifying responsible vessels and neurovascular compression, leading to better surgical outcomes with fewer complications and lower recurrence rates. This innovative technique has the potential to enhance the safety and effectiveness of microvascular decompression surgery and aid in training neurosurgeons. [Extracted from the article]
