Abstract

Researchers from the University of Guadalajara conducted a study to evaluate the effects of propolis and metformin on glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study involved a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial with 36 patients. Results showed that both propolis and metformin groups experienced significant reductions in fasting plasma glucose and 2-hour postload glucose levels, as well as improvements in insulin sensitivity. The research concluded that propolis and metformin were effective in reducing glucose levels and improving insulin sensitivity compared to a placebo. [Extracted from the article]
