Abstract

A study conducted at Shahrekord University in Iran investigated the effectiveness of adding silymarin to the standard treatment of naloxone in patients with methadone intoxication. The research aimed to improve patient outcomes and reduce complications associated with naloxone therapy alone. Results showed that the combination of naloxone and silymarin led to a more significant reduction in liver enzymes compared to standard treatment alone, indicating improved liver function. However, the combination treatment did not have a significant impact on kidney function and oxidative stress markers. The study was registered with the Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials and the Research Registry website. [Extracted from the article]
