Abstract

Researchers from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University conducted a study on acute diverticulitis, focusing on the early prediction of right-side colonic complicated acute diverticulitis using immature granulocyte count as a biomarker. The study included 289 participants and found that immature granulocyte count was a significant and independent predictor for complicated diverticulitis. The researchers concluded that immature granulocyte count could be a valuable tool in identifying right-side colonic complicated diverticulitis early, potentially reducing antibiotic usage and the need for emergency surgery.
