Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University focused on the effects of a high salt diet on glutamatergic signaling in the nucleus of the solitary tract and baroreflex sensitivity in relation to hypertension. The study found that dysregulation of 24-hour circadian glutamatergic signaling within the nTS may lead to a decrease in baroreflex sensitivity and hypertension. Preliminary findings indicated a potential shift in excitatory signaling in the nTS during the active period, along with an increase in blood pressure and a decrease in baroreflex sensitivity after a 7-week high salt diet. This research highlights the importance of understanding the molecular mechanisms linking diet and the development of disease. [Extracted from the article]
