Abstract

Neutron activated concrete reference material for measurement of residual radioactivity by gamma-ray spectrometry has been prepared. The main radionuclides were <superscript>60</superscript>Co, <superscript>152</superscript>Eu, <superscript>54</superscript>Mn, <superscript>154</superscript>Eu and <superscript>134</superscript>Cs. One-way ANOVA homogeneity test has shown that the samples are homogeneous. The activity concentrations of <superscript>54</superscript>Mn, <superscript>59</superscript>Fe, <superscript>154</superscript>Eu and <superscript>134</superscript>Cs were relatively low; only <superscript>60</superscript>Co activity concentration was found to be higher therefor it was considered as the main target isotope. The prepared sample can be used as a tool to prove compliance to radiation protection and environmental regulations during decommissioning of cyclotron buildings or other irradiation facilities that produce residual radioactivity.
