Abstract

Researchers at the University of Tunis have conducted a study on the enhanced mechanical, corrosion, and tribological properties of hydroxyapatite coatings for orthopedic and dental applications. The study involved the creation of biomedical coatings using pulsed electrodeposition with hydrogen peroxide on Ti6Al4V substrates. The research found that employing pulsed electrodeposition with 9% H2O2 in the electrolyte, combined with subsequent heat treatment, resulted in coatings comprising stoichiometric hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate. The coatings exhibited favorable mechanical properties, improved adhesion behavior, and decreased wear volume, making them suitable for bio-implants. [Extracted from the article]
