Abstract

The article explores the transcriptomic signatures of psychological trauma in the human cortex and amygdala, shedding light on the molecular mechanisms linking trauma with psychiatric risk. Using RNA-seq data from postmortem brain tissue, the study investigates the transcriptional responses to different types of trauma in specific brain regions associated with stress processing and regulation. The findings suggest that amygdala regions are more vulnerable to childhood traumas, while cortical regions are more affected by adulthood trauma, providing insights into the long-lasting impact of traumatic experiences on the human brain.
