Abstract

Researchers from Wenzhou Medical University in the People's Republic of China have developed an activatable photosensitizer, Ce-OHOA, for the treatment of drug-resistant bacterial infections. This photosensitizer shows promise in selectively identifying and killing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) with high expression of ,B-lactamase, while exhibiting low toxicity to normal cells. The study aims to provide a new solution for antibacterial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) of drug-resistant bacteria, offering a potential breakthrough in the field of medical research.
