Abstract

A study conducted at Hubei University of Chinese Medicine in Wuhan, People's Republic of China, developed a novel plasmonic Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for the detection of neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL), a potential biomarker for ulcerative colitis. This dual-readout plasmonic ELISA showed superior sensitivity and accuracy compared to conventional ELISA methods, with a linear range of 0.5-80 ng/mL and a low limit of detection of 0.5 ng/mL. The research concluded that this novel plasmonic ELISA could be a valuable tool for the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. [Extracted from the article]
