Abstract

Researchers from the University of Rennes in France conducted a study on adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma, a type of cancer. The study aimed to identify risk factors for hemodynamic instability during surgery and its impact on postoperative outcomes. Results showed that hemodynamic instability occurred in 75.6% of patients, but major cardiovascular events were rare. Factors associated with hemodynamic instability included age, preoperative high blood pressure, tumor size, and urinary normetanephrine level. The study suggests a potential link between hemodynamic instability and postoperative cardiovascular events. [Extracted from the article]
