Abstract

A study conducted at Alborz University of Medical Sciences in Karaj, Iran, explores the potential role of vagal afferent stimulation in improving social impairments in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research suggests that increasing vagal tone may enhance prefrontal-amygdala connectivity, which is crucial for social behavior and emotion regulation. Further investigations are needed to understand the neural pathways involved in visceral stimulation for individuals with ASD. This peer-reviewed study offers insights into potential interventions for ASD-related social symptoms. [Extracted from the article]
