Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Nanjing Medical University in Lianyungang, People's Republic of China, focused on the comparative efficacy of different concentrations of chlorhexidine in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia in intensive care units. The study included 19 trials with 3183 participants across nine countries and found that the use of 2.0% chlorhexidine and 0.12% chlorhexidine reduced the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia compared to a placebo. The research concluded that 2.0% chlorhexidine was superior to other concentrations in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia in critically ill patients. [Extracted from the article]
