Abstract
- The high frequency of recurrent bronchial obstruction in children of early and preschool age is due to both the morpho-functional characteristics of the respiratory tract in children of this age group and the high frequency of acute respiratory infections. Diagnosis of bronchial asthma in children under five years of age presents objective difficulties. Not all children with recurrent virus-induced obstruction subsequently develop bronchial asthma. Nevertheless, the use of an analysis of family and personal allergic history, characteristics of the clinical manifestations of the disease and response to antiinflammatory therapy (if indicated) makes it possible to establish a diagnosis of bronchial asthma at any age and prescribe basic therapy in accordance with the severity of the disease.
