Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Institute of CNS Regeneration in China focused on investigating retinal abnormalities in a mouse model of Huntington's disease. The study found that the outer retina in R6/1 mice exhibited pronounced symptoms of Huntington's disease at 6 months, including neuronal loss and impaired visual function. Additionally, the research revealed that retinal pathology in these mice manifested earlier in the outer retina than in the inner retina, suggesting that the R6/1 mouse model could be valuable for studying the mechanisms underlying Huntington's disease and potential therapeutic strategies.
