Abstract
- A recent study conducted at University College Dublin focused on the uptake of cervical screening and the acceptability of HPV self-sampling among Irish Traveller women, a minority ethnic group facing health disparities. The research found that while 75.3% of eligible Traveller women received invitations for screening, only 68% attended at least once, with 20.2% finding HPV self-sampling acceptable. The study suggests that barriers to accessing mainstream health services may contribute to lower screening rates, and highlights the potential of HPV self-sampling to improve cervical screening rates among Traveller women.
