Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Shandong Normal University explored the effects of palmitoleic acid (POA) on liver function, intestinal microbiota, and trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) levels in mice treated with high L-carnitine. The research found that POA consumption could alleviate liver injury induced by high L-carnitine intake by reducing TMAO levels and modulating antioxidant enzyme activities. Additionally, POA was shown to regulate the composition of intestinal microbiota, impacting specific bacteria related to liver injury. This study highlights the potential of POA in repairing liver damage caused by high L-carnitine intake. [Extracted from the article]
