Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Kaiser Permanente Southern California focused on identifying risk factors for acute asthma exacerbations in adults with mild asthma. The study, which included 199,010 adults with mild asthma, found that age, sex, race, ethnicity, smoking status, body mass index, prior acute asthma care, and various comorbidities were significant predictors for future acute asthma exacerbations. The researchers concluded that population-based disease management strategies for asthma should be expanded to include individuals with mild asthma, not just those with moderate to severe disease. The study was published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology In Practice and can be accessed online for further information. [Extracted from the article]
